At the culmination of a whirlwind two weeks, the members of the fourth ever Cohort NYC Film Lab gathered at the studios of 100 Sutton St to screen and celebrate their original short films. The seeds of which were planted in the very same building, on a similar evening, only a fortnight before. Gathered together in long tables draped in thick black cloth, these excited creatives met their groups for the very first time, learned the theme of the lab, and received their genres. “Not so secret,” is the guiding idea behind all the films, implying a level of intrigue, dramatic irony, and subversion of expectations. It was exciting to record talking-head interviews about the films and the cohort experience, highlighting the exciting, mundane, and difficult parts about making a movie with a group of strangers. UPCOMING EVENTS Calling upon all aspiring musicians, songwriters, and producers who are interested in collaborating for a two week music lab beginning Friday, June 5th from 7:00 PM to 9:00 PM! This musical endeavour culminates in a live show at the Dead Letter No. 9, where devised songs will be performed for friends, family, and cohort peers. This program is open to a wide range of musical abilities, backgrounds, and experience, only requiring a passion for music and a willingness to work with new people. This coming June also marks Cohort’s fifth ever film lab in New York City. Sessions start on June 4th from 7:00 PM to 9:00 PM and end with the usual screening two weeks later on June 18th.
